I just had to write about the new Ibanez Iceman ICT700 I saw at Guitar Center. Everyone remembers the Iceman PS10 made famous by Paul Stanley of KISS. He had a couple, but the one I remember is of course the one with the cracked mirror finish. I distinctly remember seeing him play his solo and “I Still Love You” live in Detroit with that back in 1983. I was kinda shocked when I saw Guitar Center was carrying a white Iceman new for 2008, and it was only a little over $600. Now his signature iceman (in black or sparkle) is about $800. You can find non-signature versions now for less than that used.

If I was up for a new axe – this would be an awesome choice for my (KISS guitar) collection! Not only does it have DiMarzio pickups, but it’s got the fast as hell Wizard II neck and the cool “iceberg” inlays on the neck. Check it out, it might be just the thing to beat the Winter blues!

There are all kinds of versions of this guitar that have been produced since the 80’s until today, in many different colors and finishes. Probably the most recognizable was the Iceman cracked mirror finish that Paul Stanley had in the 80’s, it’s the most well known. There are also some student model versions that you can find for under $300, that of course are not nearly the same quality at all. Whatever you buy pay attention to the pickups and neck for the overall quality of the guitar. Whether you decide to buy used vintage or new, the Iceman is an awesome guitar for big rock and hair metal, classic rock or blues, and everything in between.
